Things to do in West Lothian

Posted on February 8 2018

At Omnia, we know that oftentimes the location of your office is not just your place of work. It could be your home town, just one of the bases of your company, or indeed, somewhere you commute to everyday. And, sometimes, when work gets the better of us, we forget to appreciate our surroundings. This is why we have decided to do monthly blog posts about what the surrounding areas of our regional offices have to offer. Starting with West Lothian.

Our excellent office building complex, the Alba Campus, is based in Livingston, West Lothian. Being our Northern-most site, it seemed like the perfect place to start.

1. Linlithgow Palace

· Having excellent reviews, the palace is not just merely a heritage site, acclaimed for its sublime setting and Linlithgow Loch, it is steeped in history and culture. Being the birth place of James V and Mary Queen of Scots, there is a lot to learn from the site due to its renowned former residents. Additionally, the historical time-travel TV series, Outlander, was filmed at the site. There is a tour provided for fans of the series to hear trivia about it and history behind it.

2. Livingston Designer Outlet

· Moving on from historical culture to consumer culture, this outlet is well-known as it’s the largest outlet in Scotland. Be aware that if you wish to brave the shops you may need a pair of comfy shoes. The site is as large as it claims to be, holding over 70 boutiques, restaurants and cafés, plus a Vue cinema and adventure golf. Booking a group visit may be advised, as when you do so you will receive even more of a discount on your shopping, as well as free coach parking. Livingston Designer Outlet certainly gives Meadowhall a run for its money!

3. Terrace Restaurant

· If you’re a tenant in one of the buildings at our Alba Campus, then you may be looking for a place to conduct business meetings with clients; post-work meals; or celebrations, like a Christmas party. Terrace could be the place for you, if you’re looking for good-value food with a fine dining experience. A very unique restaurant, it is primarily a training restaurant for Hospitality students at West Lothian College. Plus, it won Scottish Restaurant of the Year in 2015 and 2017, wow!

4. Beecraigs Country Park

· Beecraigs Park has a whole host of options if you’re looking for a good location for some team building activities, or maybe you’re just a keen walker! Activities at the park include cycling, orienteering, fishing and more. The park is just another location which showcases Scotland’s gorgeous countryside and not only this, provides a café, amongst other food outlets and a camping site. Why not get your team bonding in the great outdoors!

We’re proud of all of our office spaces and their locations and can’t wait to showcase next months region – keep an eye out for our Tyne and Wear blog in March!
